Job description

Job Purpose

Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is responsible for all nuclear sector regulation across the UK. ONR's mission is to provide efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry, holding it to account on behalf of the public.

As a Regulatory Programme Manager in ONR, you will be responsible for providing programme management leadership and support to the Regulatory Divisions. We have five Divisions within the Regulatory Directorate, all of whom are responsible for delivering diverse portfolios of regulation.

The Role

Principal Responsibilities:

Working with the Divisional Management Team, you will be responsible for providing programme management leadership and support to the Regulatory Division. Working with partners and colleagues to assure that delivery of the Divisional and Directorate priorities are delivered to time, cost and quality.

You will need to be a strong communicator, able to understand and manage conflicting stakeholder requirements, manage expectations and escalate risks and issues as required. Above all else you will be the kind of person who can work in a team, act from their own initiative and make recommendations in the best interests of the Division and Directorate.

Key Operational Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership and support on all Programme Management related issues, within the Regulatory Divisions.
  • Ensuring consistent definition of scope and resource requirements across the Division with alignment to the Directorate and Divisional Plans.
  • Ensuring appropriate Programme Management tools and techniques are deployed and utilised on specific packages of work.
  • Securing resources required to deliver the agreed work package scope on behalf of the Divisional Director and monitor the effectiveness of resource utilisation.
  • Monitoring achievement of Directorate and Divisional plan deliverables using key performance indicators e.g. resource utilisation and budget performance.
  • Interacting with external stakeholders to enable an efficient and effective working relationship, as required.
  • Providing Divisional Directors with oversight of programme performance, including KPIs, key deliverables, risks / opportunities, and effectiveness of delivery
  • Ensuring appropriate governance arrangements are in-place across the Division. Ensuring appropriate application of the risk and issues management processes within the Division, in accordance with corporate standard.
  • Establishing, monitoring and where appropriate, re-baselining Divisional resource and finance forecasts.
  • Supporting the delivery of key corporate initiatives.
