Job Purpose

The Office for Nuclear Regulation is responsible for the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. Our mission is to provide efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry, holding it to account on behalf of the public.

The Governance and Executive Office (GEO) role is to protect our people and information, whilst enhancing ONR’s reputation, so that we remain a well-controlled, compliant, professional and secure organisation.  GEO’s functional areas include Corporate and Information Governance, Security Assurance and Private Office.  It is structurally independent from ONR’s Directorates with an unfettered route to the Chief Executive.

GEO acts as custodians of ONR’s Management System on behalf of the Chief Executive.

Working in the Information Governance Team within GEO, the Management System Manager will lead work on our Management System, with a particular focus on developing it to a level of sophistication and maturity such that it is capable of being certified against a suitable management system Standard.

About The Role

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead work on ONR’s management system such that it is capable of being certified against a suitable management system Standard.
  • Maintain and develop ONR’s management system to ensure it meets appropriate quality standard(s) and complies with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Safety Requirements (GSR) Part 2.
  • Develop and deliver our internal quality and compliance audit programme for the management system.
  • Proactively raise awareness of the management system, its purpose and colleagues’ responsibilities, encouraging and promoting a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate the delivery of continuous improvement through: understanding and reporting on the performance of the management system; delivery of the  management review process; and effective management review meetings
  • Challenge process owners to ensure their documented processes and procedures meet required standards and are fit for purpose.
  • Identify and drive performance improvements through the management system.
  • Work within ONR to deliver modernisation of the management system platform.
