The Nuclear Safety Inspector Role/ Principal Responsibilities
Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is responsible for all nuclear sector regulation across the UK. ONR's mission is to provide efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry, holding it to account on behalf of the public. Nuclear Inspectors are expected to be capable of undertaking a variety of roles:
The role of a Nuclear Inspector is varied and you are likely to undertake a range of duties during your career. Some Inspectors concentrate on undertaking planned and reactive inspections on site, while others will mainly assess safety submissions or manage discrete intervention projects. However, the focus is on working as teams to ensure compliance, reassure the public and improve safety standards.
You will be joining a dynamic and growing Human Factors team that is located across ONR’s offices (Bootle, Cheltenham and London) and provides support to all of ONR’s activities across the UK nuclear industry.
What is Human Factors in ONR?
Human Factors make a significant contribution to nuclear safety throughout a facility's lifecycle, and we are looking for experienced people with knowledge and understanding of safety cases and in particular how individual, team and organisational performance can impact upon nuclear safety. The scope of work is reflected in ONR's Safety Assessment Principles for Nuclear Facilities on Human Factors.
